Who takes this course

For deck officers who hold a 1st Mate certificate of competency (Foreign-going or Near Coastal Voyage) and are eligible to sit their Master's certificate of competency exams. It is a full-mission bridge simulator course in ship handling and bridge team coordination.

After the course

It meets the STCW A-II/1 and A-II/2 requirement in ship manoeuvring and bridge teamwork for officers preparing for command. On completion, candidates proceed to their Master's certificate of competency exams and, once qualified, to command as Master.
