Who takes this course
For deck cadets with at least 6 months' sea service who already hold ROSC and ARPA certificates, and are continuing towards taking charge of a navigational watch. It is a mandatory STCW course in Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems.
After the course
It meets the STCW A-II/1 and A-II/2 requirement in ECDIS competency for officers of the watch. Deck cadets go on to sit their Second Mate certificate of competency exams and, once qualified as 2nd Mate, can take the academy's Radar ARPA & Navigation Simulator (RANSCO) course.

Course Overview
The ECDIS course is mandatory for all officers in charge of a navigational watch. It equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to operate Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems efficiently and safely. This course focuses on chart interpretation, route planning, sensor integration, alarms, and safety procedures using full-bridge ECDIS simulators, in compliance with STCW A-II/1 and A-II/2 and DG Shipping regulations.

Batch Strength Policy
As per D G Shipping Training Circular No 4 of 2018 MTI’s are directed not to conduct any batch, if the batch strength is less than 25% of the approved intake capacity granted by the Directorate.
