Start from what you have already passed. Each pre-sea programme has its own qualification, age limit and medical standard.

After 10th: General Purpose Rating (GP Rating) and Certificate Course in Maritime Catering (CCMC). After 12th: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nautical Science, Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS), Pre-Sea Training for Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Maritime Logistics. After a degree or diploma: Graduate Marine Engineering (GME), Orientation Course for Catering Personnel (OCCP) and MBA in International Transportation & Logistics Management.

The admissions page lists the eligibility of each programme side by side.

An IMU-CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test) result is part of admission for Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nautical Science, Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) and MBA in International Transportation & Logistics Management.

General Purpose Rating (GP Rating), Certificate Course in Maritime Catering (CCMC), Pre-Sea Training for Electro-Technical Officer (ETO), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Maritime Logistics, Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) and Orientation Course for Catering Personnel (OCCP) do not ask for IMU-CET.

IMU sets the test dates and registration window each year and publishes them at imu.edu.in.

Age limits for general-category candidates, as the course records give them:

Several programmes allow higher limits for OBC, SC/ST and women candidates. The exact limits, and the date the age is counted on, are on each course page.

All programmes ask for a Certificate of Medical Fitness. The eyesight, colour-vision and medical standard differs by programme: it is listed for each one in the eligibility section of the admissions page and on the course page.

You can send the online application before you have them: the passport and INDoS fields are optional on the form (leave INDoS blank if it has not been issued yet), and documents can be given to the academy later.

To join, every programme on the admissions page lists a passport as a requirement.

Every programme also asks for a Certificate of Medical Fitness.

The application asks for: 10th Marksheet, 12th Marksheet, Passport, INDOS Certificate, Medical Fitness Certificate, Passport-size Photo and Aadhaar / ID Proof. Optional: Eye Test Report.

Files can be PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB each. You can upload them right after submitting the form, or give them to the academy later. Keep your original certificates ready.

Fill in the Pre-Sea Admission Application online. Choose your programme, then enter your details with your name exactly as printed on your passport, because that is the name that appears on your certificates.

When you submit, an application number appears on screen. Save it and quote it whenever you contact admissions. You can upload your documents straight away or later.

The academy then reviews your application and contacts you about eligibility, the intake and any documents still needed.

No. Submitting the form is not a confirmation of admission. Admission depends on meeting the programme's requirements and completing its selection steps, such as an IMU-CET rank, an interview or a medical examination where the programme asks for them.

Programmes with batches open for booking show them on the admissions page with their dates and seats left. For the degree and diploma programmes, the admissions team confirms the next intake; for programmes admitted through IMU-CET, IMU publishes the test schedule each year.

Open Book a course and choose a course package (two or more courses together) or a single course. Pick your batch dates and add it to your cart. Then enter your details, check your order, tick the box to agree to the terms and pay on our payment partner's secure page.

You need to be signed in to see prices on the booking page and to book.

Enter your email, mobile number, INDoS number or passport number, whichever you remember. Then choose how to sign in: a 6-digit code on WhatsApp, a code by email, or your password.

If a code does not arrive, you can ask for a new one after 30 seconds. Email codes sometimes land in the Spam or Promotions folder.

Register with your name, email, 10-digit mobile number, WhatsApp number, date of birth and a password. Your INDoS number is optional. After registering, sign in and book.

Each batch shows how many seats are left. "Only 3 left" means five or fewer seats remain. A batch marked "Full" cannot be chosen; pick another date.

A batch becomes unavailable when it fills up, is closed, or has already started. Remove that course from your cart and add it again with new dates. The cart will not let you pay until it is updated.

Course packages cost less than booking the same courses one by one; the saving is shown on each package. If you add courses that are also sold as a package, the cart tells you so, but it never changes your cart by itself.

After paying you return to a confirmation page with your order number, and a confirmation email is sent to you. Booking confirmations and updates also come on WhatsApp and to your phone. Keep the order number if you call us about your booking.

If the payment was declined but money left your account, it is usually refunded within 5 to 7 business days. If the confirmation page says your payment is processing, do not pay again: you will get a confirmation email once it is approved.

Yes, within 12 months of the original start date, for a shifting fee. For theory courses it is 10% of the course fee within 6 months and 20% between 6 and 12 months; for courses with practicals, 20% and 30%. Moving to a batch with a higher fee means paying the difference as well.

You cannot swap to a different course or transfer your booking to someone else, and a course that has been shifted cannot then be cancelled.

Yes. The campus has a 520-bed hostel and a dining hall.

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nautical Science fee includes accommodation and food.

The academy runs transport for day scholars.

Ragging in any form is prohibited, and cases are dealt with under UGC and IMU guidelines. Students and parents submit the anti-ragging affidavit online. The anti-ragging page names the academy's nodal officer and the national helpline, 1800-180-5522 (24x7).
