Who takes this course

This course is for seafarers who have already completed STCW basic safety training and are being assigned duties on oil or chemical tankers. It covers the basic level of cargo operations and safety procedures rather than advanced or management-level tanker work.

After the course

Completing this course and its exit exam qualifies the seafarer for basic-level cargo duties on oil and chemical tankers. Officers progressing to management-level cargo responsibility can follow it with Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations (TASCO) or Advanced Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (CHEMCO) at the academy, depending on the vessel type.
