Who takes this course

For serving seafarers whose Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting certificate was issued within the last five years and is due, or approaching due, for renewal. Candidates must be medically fit as per DG Shipping guidelines.

After the course

Completion revalidates the seafarer's Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting certificate for a further 5 years, keeping them eligible to sign on. It is commonly taken together with the academy's Refresher – Personal Survival Techniques course at each renewal cycle.
