Course fee

₹14,200

For the whole course of 10 days, paid at booking.

The fee is the same for every candidate, from Kerala, the rest of India or abroad, and the course is held at the Kochi campus. Book a batch date on this page to hold a seat; the fee is paid online when you book.

Who takes this course

The Medical Care Course is for deck officers holding a Second Mate Certificate of Competency or above who already hold a valid Medical First Aid certificate. It is aimed at the officer who will be designated in charge of medical care onboard, not at seafarers taking medical training for the first time.

After the course

Completing this ten-day course and its exit exam qualifies the officer to act as the designated person in charge of medical care onboard. The certificate is valid for five years and is renewed through the Refresher Medical Care Course at the academy.

Course Overview

The Medical Care Course (MCC) is intended for officers assigned responsibility for medical care onboard ships. It provides knowledge and hands-on experience to manage onboard illnesses, injuries, and emergencies. The course covers diagnostics, patient care, medical equipment usage, telemedicine, and recordkeeping, aligned with STCW Regulation VI/4 and DG Shipping norms.
