ORIENTATION COURSES FOR CATERING PERSONNEL (OCCP)

Course Brief

This special course has been introduced by DG Shipping keeping in a view about the requirement of the Shipping Industry with regards to availability of Catering crew. It was felt that there is ample scope of employment, for such candidates who have qualified in hotel Management, in cruise shipping and passenger liners. Accordingly, it has been opined, in consultation with industry, that as these candidates have already acquired Degree/ Diploma in subjects having catering specialization, it may not be required for them to under go a full term Saloon Rating. Course or other pre sea courses covering such subjects. However, it would be desirable that these candidates under go orientation course for the specific job requirements on board vessels.

EligibilityThe candidate who have completed a Degree/Diploma in Hotel Management from a recognized and reputed Board or University are eligible to attend this course. The candidate should be in the age group of 18-25 years and should have scored a minimum of 40% in English in 10th or 12th standard.
