Who takes this course
TASCO is for officers who hold, or have completed the sea service required to sit for, a Certificate of Competency, who already hold the Basic Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations certificate, and who have at least three months of approved sea service on oil tankers within the last sixty months. It is an advanced course, not a basic or first-time qualification.
After the course
Completing this ten-day course and its exit exam qualifies the officer for advanced, management-level cargo responsibility on oil tankers.

TASCO is an advanced training program for seafarers working on oil tankers, fulfilling the STCW Regulation V/1-1 and DG Shipping requirements. As per D G Shipping Training Circular No 4 of 2018 MTI’s are directed not to conduct any batch, if the batch strength is less than 25% of the approved intake capacity granted by the Directorate.
