On August 12, 2026, the Euro Tech Maritime Academy buzzed with intellectual energy as it hosted the highly anticipated MARINE ODYSSEY 2026 – TECHNICAL SEMINAR. This full-day event brought together students, esteemed faculty, and industry veterans for a deep dive into the maritime sector's most pressing challenges and future opportunities.

The day commenced with a traditional Lighting the Lamp Ceremony and an invocation prayer, setting a reverent tone for the proceedings. Principal Capt. Biju T Varghese warmly welcomed the gathering, followed by an inspiring Presidential Address from Executive Director Shri Babu Joseph. The spotlight then turned to Chief Guest Shri J. Senthil Kumar, Principal Officer of MMD Kochi, who delivered a compelling Inaugural Talk and was honored with a memento for his presence. After The Dean, Capt. K K Haridas, introduced the Judging Panel, the audience was treated to a graceful classical welcome dance by BBA student Ardra S Nair, perfectly bridging the ceremonial opening with the academic rigor to come.








The heart of Marine Odyssey 2026 featured 12 meticulously structured Technical Sessions. Designed to foster active dialogue, each slot allowed for a 15-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A segment. The faculty presentations offered profound insights into critical industry themes:
• Capt. Vinod Naveen opened the floor with a thought-provoking look at Alternative Fuels: Challenge & Response Indian Perspective.
• Dr. Vasantha Kumari led an impactful presentation and workshop focusing on Occupational Stress Among Seafarers: Causes, Effects, and Management Strategies.
• Continuing the focus on human welfare, Dr. Jayadevi V addressed the vital subject of Seafarers and Their Mental Health.
• After lunch, Capt. Sujit Pathak from IMU, Kochi, provided An Overview of the Maritime Emergency Response System in India.
• Rounding out the faculty expertise, Ms. Devadhootika from ETMA Kochi explored regional potential in her presentation, From Waterways to Wealth: Kerala’s Blue Economy & Maritime Opportunities.





Sharing the stage with these seasoned experts were seven distinct student teams who confidently presented their own research papers throughout the day. To keep spirits high and celebrate the vibrant campus community, a lively cultural interlude was held just before the lunch break, showcasing the diverse talents of the student body.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the Valedictory Session provided a fitting conclusion to a day of intense learning. The Judging Panel shared their technical evaluations and engaged in a valuable interactive session with the audience, followed by a collaborative feedback segment. With the declaration of prizes and the distribution of participation mementos, the presenters' hard work was officially recognized and celebrated. Principal Capt. Biju T Varghese offered his concluding remarks, and Dean Capt. K K Haridas delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, bringing Marine Odyssey 2026 to a formal and proud close with the National Anthem.
