Who takes this course
This refresher is for seafarers who already hold a Medical Care certificate issued within the last five years and need to renew it before it lapses. It is aimed at officers designated as the ship's medical officer, not at seafarers taking medical training for the first time.
After the course
Completing this one-day course renews the Medical Care certificate for a further five years, keeping the holder eligible to remain the designated officer in charge of medical care onboard. The same refresher is taken again ahead of each five-year expiry.

Course Overview
The Refresher – Medical Care Course (R MCC) is designed for seafarers whose original Medical Care certification is nearing expiration. This training revalidates the knowledge and skills needed to provide advanced first aid and medical care onboard ships, in accordance with STCW 2010 and DG Shipping standards. The course includes theory review, case-based discussions, and hands-on simulations of medical emergencies.

Batch Strength Policy
As per D G Shipping Training Circular No 4 of 2018 MTI’s are directed not to conduct any batch, if the batch strength is less than 25% of the approved intake capacity granted by the Directorate.
